Edge work

An arrissed edge is the simplest type of edgework and consists of removing the sharp edges from “as cut” glass. Flat ground edges give a flat profile with smooth arris. A polished edge can be specified for exposed edges, e.g. in furniture.

Holes

Laminated glass can be supplied with drilled holes (no matter straight or conical). The diameter of holes should not be less than the thickness of the glass, the distance between the edges of a hole to the glass edge should not be less than twice the glass thickness, the distance of the edge of a hole to the corner of the glass should not be less than six times the glass thickness.

Shapes

Except rectangle, Sun Global Glass also could do shape toughened glass, like round, Trapezoid, parallel, etc.

Other processing like acid etched, color painted, digital printing, pattern silkscreen, also could be done well.

PVB laminated glass VS SGP laminated glass

1) Name: SGP is SentryGuard Plus Interlayer, made from Dupont, PVB is Polyvinyl butyral, have many different suppliers
2) Thickness: The PVB thickness is 0.38mm, 0.76mm, 1.14mm, multiple of 0.38mm, the SGP thickness is 0.89mm, 1.52mm, 2.28mm, etc.
3) Strength: The SGP laminated glass is five times stronger and up to 100 times stiffer than PVB laminated glass
4) Safety: The SGP laminated glass is stand up when broken, while the PVB laminated glass is fell down
5) Clarity: The SGP yellow index is smaller than 1.5, while the PVB yellow index is 6-12, so the SGP laminated glass is much more clear than PVB laminated glass
6) Application: With the high security performance, the SGP is widely used to against the severe weather like storms, hurricane and cyclone, and it don’t need frame while use as balustrades. But for PVB laminated glass, if use them to against the bad weather, it is easy to delaminate

PVB laminated glass VS EVA laminated glass

1) Cost
Both EVA film and PVB film have different colors, and the thickness is 0.38mm per layer, could use different layer film to make the laminated glass as per the glass thickness, size and other processing requirements.

In fact, the EVA film cost is lower than PVB film cost, but in China market, most of the EVA laminated glass price is higher than PVB laminated glass, because it needs more time and human resource to make it, so that production capacity is lower.

2) Security
PVB has the advantages of strong tenacity and can absorb and weaken a mass of striking energy, so generally it is very hard for the thief to break the PVB laminated glass and get inside, and it is almost impossible for the broken glass separate from the PVB and fall down to hurt human. But for EVA, its security performance is not as good as the PVB, and it doesn’t have very good performance of impact resistance, so the PVB laminated safety glass is stronger than the EVA laminated glass.

3) Processing
During processing, the EVA film could move freely between glass, so generally, when we produce the EVA laminated glass, we should seal the glass around, to avoid the EVA film go out of the glass, and when we heat the glass, we should put the glass horizontally. Just because of the flow feature of EVA, it is widely used to make the interior decorative laminated glass like wire laminated glass, fabric laminated glass, etc. But for the PVB film, it almost can’t move between glass during processing, generally, it is put in the autoclave vertically, and it is not so good to make the laminated glass which have other material between glass, because it can’t integrate with other materials.

4) Application
The EVA decorative laminated glass is very popular to use for interior decoration like glass partition wall, glass bathroom enclosure, hotel central hall glass wall, etc., while the PVB security laminated glass is widely used in place where need safety like glass facades, glass balustrades, glass floors, glass elevators, etc.
